Print Design
I like print. I like work that you can hold in your hand, feel the weight, hold up to the light. Good print design should be something that lingers. It should be kept and considered. In a world with an 8-second attention span, print design hangs in the spotlight just a little longer.
Risk Exhibition
I designed the "Field Guide for the Risk Taker," with a symmetric gatefold binding that opens from the center. Concerns were raised about readers not being able to navigate the book as I intended. I like that. Take a risk! Read the book however you want; front to back, back to front, start in the middle, mix up the spreads. Challenge your assumptions and figure it out your own way. You can do whatever you want.
Go ahead, take a risk...
I wrote, printed, and hand-assembled cards that each had a unique suggestion on how one could incorporate a small risk into their life. I encouraged exhibit visitors to, literally, take a risk. My hope was that they would grab a card, chuckle, slip it in their pocket, and then forget about it until they found it again later. Upon discovering the card, maybe they would be in the mood to spice things up a little bit. Get a little funky with it. Risks are fun like that – best served spontaneously.
